Challenge Yourself to a No-Buy Year

As I continue down the Road to Simple, I decided to compile a list of No-Buy items for 2022. I was successful in 2021 in buying less overall, but I did not set any specific goals. This year I am!

To be clear: My No-Buy Year does not mean that I won’t be buying “anything”! I will continue to replenish the items that I use for daily living, (personal care items, home maintenance, etc. … and food, of course), but I won’t be buying additional items in several categories. I explain my list in this short video.

My No-Buy List does NOT include Experiences, like an adventure with my husband, a massage or special trip to see family or friends.
My main focus is to bring FEWER ITEMS (things) into our home.

.My No-Buy List for 2022:

  1. Extra Kitchen Panty Items
  2. Small Kitchen Appliances
  3. Jewelry
  4. Extra Cosmetics
  5. Pants & Most Clothing
  6. Purses or Billfolds
  7. Accessories: belts and scarves
  8. Shoes
  9. Craft Supplies
  10. Greeting Cards
  11. Home Decor
  12. Paper/Plastic Plates, Cups, Bowls
  13. Christmas Decorations
  14. Additional Streaming Services

What items would you like to challenge yourself to not buy this year?
Grab a pen and paper and make your list – Good Luck!

  1. I had planned a no buy year for 2021 but the May flood hit us ( I’m also in LC) and changed everything! We did manage to declutter about 90% of our possessions…

    1. Oh my goodness, Heidi. So sorry to hear that you were affected by that terrible flood. But decluttering 90% of your possessions… that is amazing. I hope things are getting back to normal or “simple” in your home. Thanks so much for visiting my site.
